Gingko Design was founded by Paul Sun and his wife Natalie Sun back to 2011 in Oxford, England, the same year when they got married; and now, Paul and Natalie have two lovely children as shown on the above photo.
So a lot people may ask: why we’re called Gingko? The name of Gingko was actually originated from a tree called Gingko (or Ginkgo). The Gingko tree looks absolutely magnificent and beautiful at Autumn time when all the leaves turn into golden and the leaves can be used as different herbs or tea which are good for our heath. Most importantly is that the it lives through a long time and it’s probably one of the oldest if not the oldest tree on our planet.
Therefore, the goal of Gingko here is that we wish the Gingko products and designs can be as ‘beautiful’ as the Gingko tree and as useful as the Gingko leaves. Meanwhile, we also wish the Gingko Brand can last as long as the Gingko tree, if that’s not too ambitious :-). At least, this is our objective from the first day when the company was founded and that was why we’re called Gingko (or Gingko Design)
Now Gingko has become a leading business in the UK for the home and gift industries after over 9 years growth. We believe in ourselves that we’re a design-led and people driven company with the objective of creating high-end, yet stylish and practical products for home and design-led gifts. We bring a fresh approach to design incorporating modern technology into everyday objects. Sometimes life can be complicated and technology too intrusive. Therefore by keeping our product lines simple yet engaging and keeping our products up to date with technology, as well as being aesthetically pleasing and sustainable has kept us driven and inspired.
Design, Quality & Time are our design ethos when every Gingko object was born. We give every item an ultimate stylish look in a minimalist design, craft it with our passion and love in our best standard of quality by using natural sustainable material as much as possible, create it to last as time goes by and to meet the business’s philosophy of being sustainable and responsible for our environment. And that’s probably why our products have won so many awards across the globe such as the RedDot Design Award, German Design Award, Global Innovation Award, Smart Design Award from Japan, Gift of the Year in the UK from 2018 to 2020, Gift of the Year in Spain in 2019 and UK 2020 Furniture Awards etc.
We’re now based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire – the Shakespeare’s county, right in the middle of England. We’re just about 15 minutes away from Warwick Castle / Birmingham NEC and 2 hours drive from London city centre. We strongly believe that together with our beloved customers, we can create something great, and we thrive on seeking and creating the out of the ordinary for our global business partners and customers, which enforces the foundation of our ethos, escape the boring: design for better and smarter life.
